Breakthrough Cup 2014

The 2014 Breakthrough Cup supporting Breakthrough Breast Cancer and the Darren Clarke Foundation took place last Tuesday, the 13th of May at The Buckinghamshire. As guests arrived they were treated to a wonderful cooked breakfast while Sky Sports were on hand conducting interviews with selected guests. The 12pm tee off time was greeted with a down pour which delayed proceedings slightly but following that the clouds cleared and the golfers were able to enjoy the day in glorious sunshine.

The Buckinghamshire course was in fantastic condition and this year's event was as enjoyable as ever, with the added ingredient of Pink Ball Double Scoring and a Beat the Pro challenge.

The golf was followed by a beautiful BBQ as the gofers enjoyed a well-earned drink in the sunshine in the courtyard of the Buckinghamshire Clubhouse. Following this, the Marquee was the setting for the evening proceedings. Beth Sherburn and Misha Paris entertained the guests with exceptional music performances and following a few words from our Patron Darren Clarke, Dan Nickless from our headline sponsor Your Golf Travel presented the trophies to the winners.

As fate would have it Dan himself was part of the winning team with Your Golf Travel narrowly beating UKKO London into first place. In third place was Lancaster Welwyn. In the Footballers/Celebrities section, former England, Norwich and West Ham striker Dean Ashton too this year's title, beating last year's winner Soccer AM and TalkSPORT host Max Rushden. Millwall midfielder was in third place.

The event closed with a fundraising auction.
